Part 2: Preparation

Well, I spoke to an admission representative and they said I need to score a 450 in both verbal and math on the SAT's if I want to come in with just a GED. Well, that doesn't sound too hard. It's the 16,000 dollars I gotta come up with in order to go to Japan and proving I'm financially stable. Jeeez, I'm wondering if I'll be able to make it, really. But... I will not give up. This is something I want, something I love, something I'm passionate about and is consuming my mind. It's my dream thats just at my reach yet so far away.

I've been studying my Japanese. I can fully read Hiragana and I'm working on my Katakana. I don't know too many words just a few phrases here and there but I just started and I already feel like Ive accomplished so much. I have also been studying for my SAT's. I got two books. I might need to get more on Geometry and Algebra 2 considering I never learned that in high school. (I was pulled out of school as soon as I turned 16.)

It all seems like so much but the only thing that sounds much is the money issue. So my homework is also going to include submitting essays for tons of scholarships and working my big butt off to get/save as much as I can. Will I be able to succeed in this? I'm hoping... my heart tingles when I imagine taking my first step in Tokyo Station.

Part 1: Introduction

Hello, My name is Marissa. I am a 20 year old woman residing in South Florida. I started this blog to write about my ventures in Japan, when I get the opportunity to go there. Right now, I am doing everything I can to get into Temple University, an American University stationed in Tokyo. I know a lot of nuclear radiation is going on but it's going to be a while before I get accepted into the school anyway and the radiation is only in certain areas.

I am learning Japanese right now with a program I just downloaded and I'm blending the Japanese culture into my life. I'm frequently visiting the Morikami (Japanese Museum/Garden) and have been shopping at the Oriental Market, creating traditional Japanese cuisines at home. You could say this is a passion for me. I know I made this blog for when I am in Tokyo, but I've decided to start with the journey beforehand. I will also be making V-logs on Youtube but that will only be when I finally arrive there. Stick with me on this journey and lets see if my dreams can come true!
